Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!

Meet Candee Caldwell, Award Winning Makeup Artist and founder of Makeup by Candee Caldwell.

Why did you start your business?

I started my business so I could be home with my sons as they grew up.

Best selling product or service?

Me… doing makeup for people who understand the value of flawless skin in their headshot, special events.

How many local businesses do you use to support your business in terms of products and services? Can you name them? 

  • Kate and Emilie Salon (Setting up and using a station, some products she has on hand.
  • Purchasing beautiful accessories from her Stylist Carol “ Yellow Grab “.
  • Working with Janet Taub (Photographer owner at Planet Photo CT. ) I do all the makeup for branding shoots, for women aged 40, 50, and beyond. 
  • RMedia I‘m the head makeup artist at their video company.

What are your hopes and dreams for the future?

I want to leave a lasting legacy as a makeup artist. My portfolio is a testament to my style, creativity, and artistic journey. With over 30 years of experience, I’m passionate about teaching and inspiring others with the knowledge I’ve gained. I hope to be remembered as someone who creates timeless makeup that stands the test of time.
