More than one thousand locals walk to end domestic violence

More than 1000 people from the Greater Danbury area participated in the 12th Annual Women’s Center Annual SafeWalk today inside the Danbury Fair Mall - a community event which raises much-needed funds for the Women's Center

For the fourth consecutive year, Ridgefield High School Football team members, together with their mothers, walked in solidarity (bedecked in uniforms) supporting the Women’s Center mission to end domestic violence.

The top fundraising team was Ridgefield's Team Walkie-Talkie, lead by Lori Berisford and Elaine Cox. Spearheading a fantastic campaign to raise funds and once again the top fundraiser was Alex Fischetti, the Honorary Chairperson for the event (shown in image #3).  Team Walkie Talkie raised a total of $9,668.00. Strength in Numbers, the team comprised of Fairfield County Bank employees, followed close behind raising $8,515.00.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Did you know?

Since our founding in 1975, the Women’s Center has been a safe haven as the sole provider of services to victims of domestic and sexual violence in the Northern Fairfield and Southern Litchfield County areas.

Each year, the Center serves over 20,000 individuals from our area communities.  Our free and confidential services are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. The Center's key areas of focus include emergency shelter and support services, counseling and advocacy, crisis intervention, and community education, primary prevention and training.

All funds provided to the Center support our critically needed domestic violence, sexual assault and resource services for adults and children in our 13-town service area, including Bethel, Bridgewater, Brookfield, Danbury, Kent, New Fairfield, New Milford, Newtown, Redding, Ridgefield, Roxbury, Sherman, and Washington.
