More than one thousand locals walk to end domestic violence at Danbury Fair Mall

Safe at Home, School and Everywhere in Between

Today, Sunday, October 6, more than 1000 people from the Greater Danbury area participated in the 13th Annual Women’s Center Annual SafeWalk inside the Danbury Fair Mall - a community event that raises much-needed funds for the Women's Center.

Thirty-three "teams" comprised of local residents and businesses participated in this community-centered 4K walk. The top fundraising team was Fairfield County Bank's Strength in Numbers with over $9,000 raised. For the fifth consecutive year, Ridgefield High School Football team members, together with their mothers, walked in solidarity (bedecked in uniforms) supporting the Women’s Center mission to end domestic violence.

While the donations are rolling in, more 2019 SafeWalk has raised over $50,000.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Did you know?

Since our founding in 1975, the Women’s Center has been a safe haven as the sole provider of services to victims of domestic and sexual violence in the Northern Fairfield and Southern Litchfield County areas.

Each year, the Center serves over 20,000 individuals from our area communities.  Our free and confidential services are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. The Center's key areas of focus include emergency shelter and support services, counseling and advocacy, crisis intervention, and community education, primary prevention and training.

All funds provided to the Center support our critically needed domestic violence, sexual assault and resource services for adults and children in our 13-town service area, including Bethel, Bridgewater, Brookfield, Danbury, Kent, New Fairfield, New Milford, Newtown, Redding, Ridgefield, Roxbury, Sherman, and Washington.
