Guiding Eyes and WCDNF Walked to Eliminate Domestic Violence

Under the leadership of member Sheila Macauley, the Women’s Club of Danbury/New Fairfield participated in full force in the 14th Annual SafeWalk of the Women’s Center of Greater Danbury at the Danbury Fair Mall.

SafeWalk raised money to help end domestic violence, which is a key mission of the Federation of Women’s Clubs. Club member, Kate Fanti, a Guiding Eyes for the Blind puppy raiser, brought fellow raiser, Charlene Kirkwood and her 10-month old pup, Ollie. Ollie and trainers walked with twenty-four club women who raised $2,128 for the Women’s Center. Guiding Eyes raises and trains puppies to help guide people who are visually impaired, another great cause that WCDNF supports.

Looking ahead, women of the WCDNF are already collecting highly valuable items for a Silent Auction to be hosted March 27th, 2020 to benefit the Roger’s Park Middle School Weekend Food Program.  Stay tuned for other fundraising efforts and good deeds by women of the Woman’s Club of Danbury/New Fairfield.
