TNADF Partners with National Charity Leagues to Serve 650 Meals and Distribute 650 Holiday Cards to Danbury Seniors

The New American Dream Foundation (TNADF) COVID-19 Hot Meal Program has provided over 11,000 meals to children and families, and seniors since April.

Last month TNADF began a partnership with two local chapters of the National Charity League (NCL), from Redding and Ridgefield, tapping into their mother and daughter teams to serve the meals alongside the foundation's community volunteers. The hot meals are purchased from The Amber Room Colonnade at cost and served by teams of volunteers that deliver meals to the doors of seniors living in 8 affordable housing communities in Danbury.

"Our Mother/Daughter organization is beyond-excited to partner with the New American Dream Foundation through hands-on service work in the Danbury Community. The Foundation's Mission inspires us, and we are looking forward to this opportunity to support their philanthropic efforts throughout the year," said Meredith Miller, NCL - Redding Area Chapter President.

On Thanksgiving weekend, Nov. 28, volunteers from the foundation and both NCL chapters served 650-holiday meals along with a very personal touch- 650 handmade holiday cards crafted by members of the Ridgefield National Charity League – Nutmeg Chapter.

"These past months have found many of our neighbors not just hungry for a meal, but craving kindness, hope, and connection", stated Janine Olsen, Vice President of Philanthropy, (NCL) Nutmeg Chapter. "NCL is so grateful for the opportunity to partner with TNADF and their Hot Meal Program with meals crafted by the Amber Room, to support the immediate needs of the Danbury community in this time of COVID. Partnerships like these are at the heart of the NCL mission of mothers and daughters volunteering together to support our communities and encouraging character and leadership development. These deliveries provide more than a delicious, hot meal and a smile. We are fostering a sense of community and connection at a time when it is so needed."

"We are so grateful for all of these helping hands and the tremendous generosity we have received from individual members of our community, foundations, and local businesses, food insecurity is real, and it has hit our seniors the hardest." said Emanuela Palmares TNADF Vice-President adding, "We hope to continue this program for as long as there is a need in our community."
