Cultural Alliance of Western Connecticut Receives CT Cultural Fund Operating Support Grant from CT Humanities

DANBURY— Connecticut Humanities, the statewide, nonprofit affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities, has awarded The Cultural Alliance of Western Connecticut, a $50,000 CT Cultural Fund Operating Support Grant.

The Cultural Alliance will use the grant, according to Executive Director Lisa Scails, to bring additional resources to the organization to better support needs of the arts and culture field, including things like membership support and professional development, convenings, and stronger marketing services.

“We are so grateful for this support. There is so much need but haven’t been able to get done,” Scails said. “This grant will help us turn a corner toward resiliency, but I plan for us to leverage this funding, build capacity so that we can better support ourselves and our community into the future as well.”

The Cultural Alliance was one of 624 organizations in Connecticut that was awarded CT Cultural Fund support totaling $16 million from CT Humanities. The grants are part of $30.7 million in support allocated to arts, humanities, and cultural nonprofits through CT Humanities over the next two years by the CT General Assembly and approved by Gov. Ned Lamont. The grants will assist organizations as they recover from the pandemic and maintain and grow their ability to serve their community and the public.

The grant was administered by CT Humanities (CTH), with funding provided by the Connecticut State Department of Economic and Community Development/Connecticut Office of the Arts (COA) from the Connecticut State Legislature.
