Housatonic Habitat for Humanity held its inaugural "Blueprints & Blue Jeans" fundraising event at the Lounsbury House last Thursday, Sept. 22.
The sold-out event featured heartwarming stories from several Habitat homeowners and longtime volunteers, along with entertainment by local musician Jim Endee and comedian Christine O'Leary. The chapter was started 30 years ago by a group of Ridgefielders, led by local philanthropist John Patrick, who along with his wife, Joanne, was recognized at the event for their ongoing support.
Attendees included local business owners and area residents, as well as town and government officials First Selectman, Rudy Marconi, State Senator Julie Kushner and others who support the mission of Housatonic Habitat: to provide safe, affordable homes to qualified working families in our community.
Housatonic Habitat Executive Director Diana Arfine and Marketing Director Jen Russey, along with a dedicated team of volunteers including Jill Rae of Jill Rae Designs -- a Housatonic Habitat Board member -- oversaw the colorful night of fun and fundraising that highlighted Habitat's programs and many community partnerships.
Proceeds from the event will be used to grow Habitat's "Brush with Kindness" program, an initiative that offers free home repairs to seniors and veterans on fixed incomes, and fund future home builds.
