Bicycle Travel Film Festival Pedals into Danbury

The 9th Annual Ciclismo Classico Bike Travel Film Festival will pedal into Danbury on June 8th. The festival showcases independent films from around the world that depict the adventure, humor, and growth inherent in bicycle journeys.

You don’t need to be a cyclist to enjoy these nine fantastic short films & tales of adventure!

From the frozen tundra of Nunavut to the heat of the Australian outback, from a father and son sharing their first overnight outing to women on multi-year adventures, there’s something for everyone at this year’s festival.

This year’s festival features the USA premiere of a stunning film from Australia called Lowest to Highest. Through the boundless landscape of Australia, five friends attempt to be the first to cycle from the continent’s lowest to the highest point. The 1300+ mile journey would be hard enough for anyone, but Duncan is blind, Walter can’t breathe, Daniel can’t walk, Conrad can’t bend, and half of Paul’s body doesn’t work. What could possibly go wrong?

Another USA premiere at the event is the film INARI, which shares the first bicycle travel adventures of a father and his 4-year-old son, under the Northern Lights in Finland. Despite its brevity (6 minutes) it packs an emotional punch and was chosen as the Grand Jury Prize winner for the event.

Buy a popcorn and help support cycling for kids! All proceeds from the concession stand will benefit Danbury Youth Services’ Earn-A-Bike program. How's that for an easy-peasy fundraiser?

In addition to the films, there will be door prizes and giveaways plus the opportunity to meet and mingle with members of the cycling community, armchair adventurers, and independent film fans.
