Pacific House, a leader in ending homelessness in Fairfield County, will host its 21st Annual Pacific House Celebration at the Residence Inn by Marriott Stamford Downtown on Thursday, October 20. The event, which will also stream live for at-home supporters, will raise funds for the life-changing services the organization provides.
Pacific House operates an emergency shelter for men and young adults in Stamford, as well as fourteen permanent supportive houses across Fairfield County, providing housing for over 140 formerly homeless individuals and families. The event will honor two outstanding community partners.
Pacific House will recognize Kenneth G. Tropin as the event Honoree. Tropin has been instrumental in helping the organization achieve growth and advancement toward its mission to prevent and end homelessness. He generously supports fundraising events at the Leadership Sponsor level, contributes annually, and helped to fund Beacon House, one of the organization’s first affordable supportive housing properties.
Food Rescue, Fairfield County will receive the Pacific House Making A Difference Award, recognizing its long-standing support through meal contributions. Of note is the organization’s commitment to providing individualized meals for Pacific House guests who were relocated to hotels during the pandemic.
Support for Pacific House is needed now more than ever before, as the state’s lower-income residents are struggling to recover economically from the pandemic and are now facing inflation. Paired with a lack of available deeply affordable housing, the number of people experiencing homelessness in Connecticut rose roughly 13% in the past year. Organizations that create and maintain affordable housing such as Pacific House are imperative.
