Newtown teen, Wooster student wins the 2022 Dakin Humane Society Youth Award

On September 18th Marley Dixon was presented with the Dakin Humane Society 2022 Youth Award. This award honors a young person, “who through the display of extraordinary care and compassion makes a difference in the lives of animals and makes the world a kinder and gentler place.”

After a nomination process, a panel of judges weighed criteria including commitment, scale of impact, and demonstration of the core values of integrity, compassion, and innovation.  According to panelists, “justice for all” takes on a new meaning when Marley has a seat at the table or a square on Zoom. Through service and advocacy, she promotes inclusion and stands against abuse and marginalization of all creatures.  The award was announced at the Humane Awards Ceremony in Easthampton, MA. Since its inception in 1969, Dakin Humane Society has become a prominent national leader in animal welfare and impacts over 20,000 animals and families each year.
