Celebrating a Champion of Early Breast Cancer Detection: Dr. Seema Bakhru Honored by the American Cancer Society

Connecticut Breast Imaging is proud to announce that one of its esteemed breast imaging radiologists, Seema Bakhru, M.D., along with Roy de Souza, co-founder and CEO of BreakBio, will be honored at American Cancer Society’s upcoming "Women Leading the Way to Wellness" luncheon on May 11th.

Dr. Seema Bakhru is a fellowship-trained radiologist specializing in breast imaging. She is the first female Chair of the Department of Radiology at Danbury Hospital and Norwalk Hospital. Dr. Bakhru is also the recent Assistant Program Director of the Norwalk Hospital Radiology Residency Program, where she has inspired and mentored young residents, shaping the future of radiology and breast imaging. She holds a Medical Degree from the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth University and is a member of prestigious medical societies such as the Radiological Society of North America and the American Roentgen Ray Society. Dr. Bakhru is a resident of Ridgefield, CT, and an advocate for breast cancer prevention and early detection.

Dr. Seema Bakhru and de Souza, along with his late wife Aisha de Sequeira, are being recognized for their outstanding work in the field of cancer early detection, and personalized medicine.

The American Cancer Society will host its ninth annual "Women Leading the Way to Wellness" luncheon on May 11, 2023, from 11am – 1:30pm at The Stamford Marriott Hotel & Spa in Stamford, CT. This enlightening and impactful afternoon aims to empower women to recognize the value of self-care and making their own health a priority. The event also serves as a platform to raise awareness and funds for cancer research, prevention, and support programs. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn and discuss the importance of being their own health advocate, with a focus on early detection and healthier lifestyles such as maintaining a healthy weight through diet and exercise, avoiding tobacco, and getting regular health screenings. The proceeds from the luncheon will benefit the American Cancer Society, with the goal of building a movement to empower women in their health journey.
