This Week in the City, Mayor Dean Esposito is joined by Dan Garrick, Director of Finance, to discuss the City of Danbury’s Proposed Fiscal Year 2023-2024 Budget.
The Proposed Budget fully funds the Board of Education budget request of $150 million and provides our city departments with the necessary funds needed to run an effective and efficient city government.
Between building out the Academies of Danbury and creating a wall-to-wall district-wide career pathways curriculum, Danbury will fundamentally transform education and set the model for the rest of the State of Connecticut to follow in the future.
The Proposed Budget also lowers the mill rate (tax rate) by 17% (4.89 mills) to 23.33 mills. This historic decrease helps offset the tax burden on our residents due to record property value gains resulting from the state-mandated 2022 revaluation.
