Astrophotography discussion in Danbury on September 5

Astrophotography on Tuesday, September 5th, 7:30 p.m. at Danbury Hospital Auditorium

Shannon Calvert is a photographer and graphic artist from Easton, Connecticut.

Shannon vacationed for a week in July at the Maine Astronomy, where he created the two celestial photographs.  (See www.medomakretreatcenter.com and click on MARS.)  The Trifid Nebula is a star-forming region within our own galaxy, while the Triangulum Galaxy is over 2.5 million light years beyond the Milky Way. The dark sky in Maine was useful for both of these photographs. Shannon will show overhead slides of many more photographs. He generally focuses on galaxies and nebulae, rather than planets.  Shannon will describe how people can get involved in astronomy and astrophotography. He is involved with Westport Astronomical Society in Westport.  See www.was-ct.org.

DACS General Meetings are free and open to the public. Members and prior attendees are encouraged to extend invitations to anyone interested in this topic.

General meetings are held at Danbury Hospital Auditorium. There is plenty of free parking in the guest parking garage adjacent to the auditorium. (Go to www.dacs.org to find directions and parking information).
