Billy Joel's Legendary Drummer Liberty Devitto joins National Blues Hall Of Fame singer Christine Ohlman at Palace Danbury

Billy Joel's legendary drummer, Liberty Devitto and his new band The Slim Kings are coming to Danbury's Palace Theatre on February 24 for a great night of Rock, Roll, and Soul. They'll be sharing the stage with National Blues Hall of Famer (and Connecticut native!) Christine Ohlman and her band Rebel Montez.

Liberty Devitto's sound and style is instantly recognizable. For 30+ years he was the drummer for the Billy Joel band and helped catapult the Piano Man to international stardom. Just pick up one of the over 150 million copies of Billy Joel records sold in the last 30 years and you’ll hear why Liberty is called THE songwriter’s drummer.”

In addition to playing with Billy Joel, Devitto backed some of the most iconic musicians in the world including Paul McCartney, Stevie Nicks, Mick Jagger, Roger Daltrey, Ronnie Spector, Karen Carpenter, Phoebe Snow, Elton John, and many, many more.

These days Devitto is busy with his new band, The Slim Kings which features the legendary drummer alongside singer and guitarist Michael Sackler-Berner and R&B bassist Andy Attanasio. This trio's home cooked recordings have landed thousands of followers from bars in their native Brooklyn to large arenas in the Northeast. They have shared the stage with national acts like Los Lonely Boys, ZZ Top, Southside Johnny, The Spin Doctors, and the list goes on.

Christine Ohlman mixes a fiery brand of rootsy Americana with an old-school soul music flavor. In 2017 she was inducted into the National Blues Hall of Fame. Closer to home- she has been named a “Living Legend” by both the New Haven and Hartford Advocates.

A seasoned performer after her 24+ years as lead singer of the Saturday Night Live band, Ohlman has sung over the years at such high-profile gigs as Bob Dylan’s 30th anniversary bash, the 2009 Obama inaugural gala, The Lincoln Center “American Songbook” series, and  the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame Induction Concert.

Ohlman is a consummate singer who's gone heart to heart with the best. She counts Bonnie Raitt, Al Green, Bruce Springsteen, The Blind Boys Of Alabama, George Harrison, Sting, Ian Hunter, Bonnie Bramlett, Ronnie Spector, Charlie Musslewhite, Chrissie Hynde as but a few of those she has collaborated with on Grammy-nominated recordings and live appearances.

Showtime is at 8PM on Saturday, February 24. Reserved seating only, all tickets cost $40 and may be purchased online at  www.thepalacedanbury.com, by phone at 203 794-9944, and at the box office starting at 7:00 PM day of show.
