CT Premier of Rugby Film Coming to Palace Danbury

On Friday, March 9, Danbury’s Palace Theatre will present the Connecticut premiere of the film Chasing Great, about rugby superstar Richie McCaw. The film is the top-grossing documentary in New Zealand of all time!!

Film Synopsis: All Black captain Richie McCaw has lived his dream with precision and  determination. He’s 34 and perhaps the best rugby player ever. But the dream is almost over.  He is old by professional sport standards and everyone is asking when he’s going to retire. Before his career ends Richie McCaw sets his sights on a risk-all attempt to win the Rugby World Cup back to back. No team has won it a second time in a row.  No captain has won it twice. He will either end his career on an impossibly high note or take a nation’s dreams down with him.

Chasing Great dives into the mind of an élite sportsman who still sees himself as an “ordinary guy” from small town New Zealand. With unprecedented access to McCaw, including exclusive family archives and video footage, the film is a rare window into the life of New Zealand’s most famous son, who until now has maintained a very private life in the public eye.

More than just a sports movie, Chasing Great is a character study that explores what it takes to succeed at the highest level. “People have been truly moved by the film. It’s about what you can become and not just what you were born with,” explains director Michelle Walsh.

Chasing Great will be shown for one night only at The Palace Danbury on Friday, March 9 at 8:00pm. Tickets cost $15 and may be purchased online at www.thepalacedanbury.com, by phone at 203-794-9944, or at the box office starting one hour before showtime.

The Palace Danbury is located at 165 Main Street, in Danbury, Connecticut. Free parking is readily available for theatre patrons in the parking lot behind the building. For more information about this and all upcoming shows visit www.thepalacedanbury.com
