Best Darn Jazz Club in Danbury at WCSU

Western Connecticut State University will host the "Best Darn Jazz Club in Danbury" at 8 p.m. on Friday, March 23, in the Colonial Corner in the Student Center on the university's Midtown campus, 181 White St. in Danbury. The opening act will be The Clotter Group and the featured act will be Dee Experience. Admission will be free and open to the public. Donations will be accepted at the door.

The Clotter Group consists of Jason Clotter on bass, Kendric McCallister on tenor saxophone, Ryan Hamme on drums and guest vocal artist Samantha Feliciano. Clotter, the leader of the group is a bassist from Puerto Cortes, Honduras, who currently resides in New York City. Clotter has studied the bass since age 17 when he was invited to attend Celia Cruz Bronx High School of Music. He has participated in many prestigious programs such as Jazz at Lincoln Center, NAFME and the Manhattan School of Music, to name a few. Clotter has shared the stage with musicians Eli Yamen, Stacy Dillard and Nat Reeves. Currently, he attends Purchase College.

Dee Experience features four musicians: Dakota Austin on saxophone, Tom Kean on guitar, Hector Ares on bass and Matt Spencer on drums. This group is composed of the instrumentalists of the local band Sub-Urban, which is made up of WestConn students and alumni. Dee Experience creates music fused from all sorts of genres but is mainly rooted in jazz.

There will be free food and drinks available in addition to a cash bar for attendees 21 and older with a valid ID.

The last "Best Darn Jazz Club" spring semester performance will be on Friday, April 13.
