Tibetan Coloring: What is it? Find Out at Danbury Library

The Danbury Public Library

Writing in her resourceful book, Crafting Calm: Projects and Practices for Creativity and Contemplation, Maggie Oman Shannon explains, "mandala--a Sanskrit word meaning circle, with roots meaning "essence" and "container"--is an ancient symbol of wholeness that has been created and contemplated for thousands of years."

Modern artists are finding mandalas helpful for relaxing, for community-coloring events and for deepening contemplation and attention-to-detail.

Ms. Shannon notes that psychologist Carl Jung felt that mandalas provide a "path to the center, to individuation...the exponent of all paths."

If you have been curious about mandalas and/or have heard about Tibetan art or mantram coloring the Danbury Public Library has a 3-week workshop that will be a fit for you.

This latest trend is sweeping art schools across America and is now in Danbury.

Participants are encouraged to bring their own gel pens and favorite mandala drawings. If you want a mantram, participants can also learn about mantrams,  research several options and select one for use during and after this class.

Tibetan music will be played to enhance the experience.
