The Danbury Library will host an entertaining and educational presentation by author and former editor of Connecticut Magazine, Charles Monagan, on Saturday, September 29th from 3-4pm. Monagan, a seasoned writer and lecturer of Connecticut history, will talk about his latest book, "Connecticut Icons: Classic Symbols of the Nutmeg State". In 2000, he began writing a monthly "Connecticut Icons" page in the magazine, and in 2006, the collection was published by Globe Pequot and sold out three printings. In 2017, Connecticut Icons was reissued, with updates and additional icons.
As Monagan reveals, "The icons range from hot lobster rolls to Yale Bowl, from stone walls to steamed cheeseburgers, and from Sleeping Giant to Top-Sider deck shoes. This presentation will be filled with lots of surprising and revealing information about Connecticut places and things you thought you already knew about."
The presentation is free of charge. Registration is required online at danburylibrary.org, click on "View Calendar" or call the Library at 203.797.4505, option 3. For more information contact: Jodi L. Weisz (203) 797-4505 ext. 7728
