Danbury Music Centre presents the first Fall Concert of the Danbury Concert Chorus

On Saturday, November 3rd, 7:30 pm, the Danbury Music Centre will present the Danbury Concert Chorus in “Hearts, Hands, and Voices: Music of Love and Loss for Choir and Four-Hand Piano” at the First Congregational Church (164 Deer Hill Avenue, Danbury).

This concert is the first of three concerts in the 2018-2019 concert season under Dr. Jason Thoms, the new Music Director of the Danbury Concert Chorus. Featuring the music of Hildegard, Dowland, Weekles, Brahms, P.D.Q. Bach, and Wilberg, the program encompasses a variety of musical styles, with the texts focusing on love in both serious and humorous manners.

The highlight of the concert is the contrast between selections from Johannes Brahms’ Liebeslieder Waltzer (Op. 52) and selections of P.D.Q. Bach’s Liebeslieder Polkas.  Like all P.D.Q. Bach pieces, the Liebeslieder Polkas selections are humorous pieces written in the style of the Brahms composition, and are written for 5-hand piano, which adds one more level to the humor component.

Please join us for an evening of music that will warm your heart and lighten your spirit. The concert is free of charge, with donations very much appreciated at the door.
