Tree and Shrub Pruning Basics at Danbury Library on Saturday

Most gardeners know pruning is an important task but most lack the confidence to get the job done. The Danbury Library will offer a presentation "Fearless Pruning: Confident Care of Your Trees and Shrubs" on Saturday, March 9 from 10:30 a.m. to noon.  The program will be conducted by UCONN Advanced Master Gardener Michele MacKinnon, a frequent speaker at the Danbury Library.

Ms. MacKinnon will provide a basic introduction of pruning common evergreens, deciduous trees, and shrubs.  Topics to be covered include why we procrastinate with pruning; pruning goals of shaping, removing damage, and size control; why, when, and how to trim plants; and the right tools for the job. In addition to the presentation, a list of books and other recommended resources will be provided.

In the event of snow, the program will be held on Sat. March 16. Registrants will be notified by email if a change is necessary.   The program is free.  Registration is required online at danburylibrary.org or call 203-797-4505, option 3.  The Danbury Library is located at 170 Main Street, Danbury.
