Rotary Club of Danbury Hosts Amber Alert Event on Saturday

The Rotary Club of Danbury is hosting an Amber Alert event on Saturday, April 20 from10am to2pm at The Volunteer Fire Department of Prospect Inc. 26 New Haven Rd, Prospect, Connecticut.

Learn more about this event on Facebook here.

AMBER stands for America's Missing: Broadcast Emergency Response and was created as a legacy to nine-year old Amber Hagerman, who was kidnapped while riding her bicycle in Arlington, Texas, and then brutally murdered. The AMBERAlert System started in 1996 when Dallas-Fort Worth broadcasters partnered with local law enforcement to develop an early warning system to help find abducted children.

What is AMBERAlert Child ID?

The AMBERAlert Child ID program is a voluntary program for all children under the age of 18. The parent/guardian of participating children will receive a wallet-sized, laminated card with a photo of the child, a unique AMBERAlert number and only minimal, yet essential information needed to find a child in the event the child is abducted. The encrypted information is sent to a secured National AMBERAlert date base. Multiple AMBER ID cards are available.

How to Obtain an AMBER Child ID Card

Simple! By either participating in a school-sponsored event or attending one of the many AMBERAlert Child ID events held by participating Rotary Clubs. Dates for these events are listed at www.amberchildid.org or by contacting the Rotary Club in the town that you live in. The only requirement is for the parent/guardian to fill out and sign a brief consent form. For more information on how to host your own AMBERAlert, please call Jack Eagan at 860-395-8205 or email: jackeagan01@comcast.net.
