Danbury Community Orchestra Spring Concert on May 4

The final concert of the 2018-2019 season of the Danbury Community Orchestra will be performed on Saturday evening, May 4th, at 7:30pm at the Visual and Performing Arts Center on the Westside Campus of Western CT State University.

Subtitled "May the Fourth be with you," selections will include the Main Theme and Imperial March from John William's Star Wars film score. Also on the program, under the baton of Music Director Stephen Michael Smith, will be Shallow, from the recent film, A Star Is Born, which received critical acclaim when it was sung live by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper at this year's Oscars presentation.

Rounding out the program will be more traditional orchestral selections by Schubert and Mendelssohn. Graduating concertmaster Juliana (Jules) Chetcuti, will perform the first movement of the Bruch Violin Concert No 1 in G Minor, op 26 as part of the orchestra's recognition of its graduating seniors.

The concert is free and open to the public, and donations are encouraged and appreciated. Concert-goers are encouraged to wear costumes of their favorite Star Wars characters as part of the Star Wars theme.

This concert is sponsored, in part, by OrthoConnecticut.

Membership in the Danbury Community Orchestra is open to qualified musicians of all ages by audition. Auditions are held twice annually, and any interested musicians are encouraged to contact the Danbury Music Centre office for additional information and to schedule an audition.
