WeCAHR Annual Meeting at Danbury Museum on June 21

WeCAHR’s Annual Meeting

Danbury, CT – WeCAHR will hold its Annual Meeting Friday, June 21st, 2019, at The Danbury Museum. WeCAHR (pronounced “we care”) is the Western Connecticut Association for Human Rights, a 501(c)(3) advocacy organization, which has provided services to the Greater Danbury area since 1977.

The event will consist of a Year in Review and provide acknowledgement to two community members and three volunteers. Olivia Alessandro, from Danbury, will be acknowledged for her work starting “Siblings First Call” that has been replicated across the country and Mark Mancusi, Clinician at Family and Children’s Aid Extend Program, for his collaborative efforts and dedication on shared cases this past year. Our three volunteers being honored this year are: Peter Sandler of Sandy Hook, Lili Schroppe of Ridgefield and Lynn Taborsak of Danbury.

WeCAHR advocates for the civil and human rights of people with disabilities in this region. WeCAHR partners with families to create and promote personal success, independence, and community involvement for children and adults with disabilities. 

Approximately 300 people are touched by WeCAHR services each year, such as direct advocacy on their behalf or information provided at WeCAHR’s free educational seminars and events. WeCAHR has a part-time executive director and two part-time staff members.

The event will have light refreshment is from 5:30 to 7:00 pm on Friday, June 21st. The Danbury Museum & Historical Society is located at 43 Main Street in Danbury.
