At the event the Bank was presented with citations from: The City of Danbury, The General Assembly and United States Senator Richard Blumenthal for their longstanding leadership in the community.

A full-service Connecticut community bank is rooted in history and positioned for the future and established in 1849, the Bank is the oldest continuously operating business in the City of Danbury.

“Since its inception, the Bank has always focused on its customers, the surrounding community and its employees. As I have said many times before – we will be successful if we take care of our customers, employees and community,” said Martin Morgado, President and Chief Executive Officer of Savings Bank of Danbury. “We are proud of our past and we look forward to continuing our contributions to the area as a large part of our future.”

Last year the Savings Bank of Danbury and its Foundation awarded $650,000 to local agencies and employees volunteered a total of 6,700 hours. Morgado said the Bank expects to meet or exceed that level of community participation this year.

In honor of our 170th anniversary the Savings Bank of Danbury will underwrite phase 3 of the rehabilitation of the Charles Ives Home, now owned by the Danbury Museum and Historical Society, it is an important piece of Danbury and the Bank’s history.  It was the original home of Savings Bank of Danbury and the Connecticut State Composer, Charles Ives.
