Presenting ‘CityCenter Shorts Red Carpet Screening on Nov. 14 in Danbury

Finalists of the CityCenter Danbury & Danbury Library Short Film Contest, ‘CityCenter Shorts’, will present their entries at a red carpet screening on Thursday, November 14, 6pm at RmediA.

Contestants were asked to submit short films that allude to downtown Danbury and the city’s history. The content of the video had to include at least one recognizable shot of downtown, use of the phrase “It’s happening downtown!” and at least one character named “Charlie Ives.”

“The contest brought an awareness to the various resources we have available downtown, while still allowing artists to create and explore their talents,” said CityCenter chairwoman Alicia Ghio. “It is a fun way to get the community excited about what we have to offer.”

The judging panel included Emanuela Palmares, editor of the Tribuna Newspaper; Patricia Clark, producer and president of The Nutmeg Institute; Renato Ghio, co-owner of RmediA in downtown Danbury; and Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton.

“Celebrating and promoting our downtown is always a positive thing for the city as a whole,” said Mayor Boughton. “This contest is an example of the type of creative, community engagement projects that we plan to continue in the city center.”

Prizes will be awarded at the screening. This event is free to attend, but space is limited. RSVP to angela@citycenterdanbury.com.

RmediA is located upstairs at 241 Main Street, Suite 5.
