CSGA Partners with Reby Advisors in Support of Connecticut Open at Ridgewood August 3-5

On the occasion of an historic Connecticut Open Championship at Ridgewood Country Club in Danbury, the CSGA is proud to announce a new partnership with Reby Advisors, a financial planning firm with headquarters in Connecticut.

Reby Advisors will become presenting sponsor of the Connecticut Open in 2020 and 2021. The 86th Connecticut Open takes place at Ridgewood August 3-5. It comprises 54 holes of stroke play.

“We’re grateful and excited to have Reby Advisors as a partner,” said CSGA Executive Director Mike Moraghan. “Reby Advisors’ presence in the Danbury community and their support of the championship allows us to make a great event even better.”

The Reby Advisors sponsorship will allow the CSGA to raise this year’s championship purse by 20 percent, to $60,000. The winner will receive $14,000.

Reby Advisors’ support for the championship is timely. This year marks the 100th anniversary of Ridgewood Country Club.

"Ridgewood is a beautiful, challenging course, rich with tradition,” said Robert Reby, Founder and CEO of Reby Advisors. “The tricky greens, wonderful condition, and elevation changes make it ideal for the Connecticut Open. As an avid golfer and sports fan, I’m excited to attend. As a firm, we are grateful for the opportunity to present it.”

Ridgewood has also proven itself a great identifier of champions. Previous winners here are Danbury native Ken Green, a 5-time winner on the PGA Tour and former Ryder Cupper, Nick Cook, the last player to claim the title in back to back years (2005-2006), and John Galeski, who won the first Connecticut Open played here in 1955. Galeski worked as an assistant under the legendary Tommy Armour, and also played on the PGA Tour.

Among the many famous players who have graced its fairways, Ridgewood was a frequent practice venue for Golf Hall of Fame member Gene Sarazen, who owned a home ten minutes away. Ridgewood’s designer was the great architect Devereux Emmet, who also designed Congressional Country Club near Washington, D.C., Garden City Golf Club on Long Island and nearby Hartford Golf Club.
