More than 25 Do-It-Yourselfers to participate in Housatonic Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore Upcycle Challenge 2021

More than 25 Do-It-Yourselfers are participating in Housatonic Habitat’s ReStore Upcycle Challenge 2021. Each participant was given $100 ReStore credit on furniture and materials to use in their Upcycle Challenge project.

The ReStore Upcycle Challenge 2021 brings DIY enthusiasts and novices together to transform items found in ReStore’s 10,000 square-foot resale warehouse into one-of-a-kind designer pieces. The transformations will be sold on Saturday, April 24 during Housatonic Habitat's Earth Month Celebration at the ReStore. All the proceeds will support Housatonic Habitat’s mission of building affordable homes in Fairfield and Litchfield Counties for qualified working families in need of decent places to live.

According to ReStore Manager Diana Arfine, “We are thrilled with the response. To have 25 participants taking part in transforming a piece and making it into a one-of-a-kind item to sell to support our mission goes beyond words.”

ReStore Upcycle Challenge Participants include: Elizabeth Faulk, Karen Fitzgerald (The Vintage Office & Paper Shop), Jennifer Molinaro, and Kelci Terry & Steven Devaux of Danbury; Pat Catchpole, Katie Korotash (Sincerely KatieK), and Aili Seppa of New Milford; Susan Betterly, Erin McMurray (Alboe Design), Tracy Sideris (Rabbit and The Oak) and Ruth van den Nieuwenhuizen of Ridgefield; Donna Ball, Courtney Danyliw, and Kristy Flynn (Furniture Rehab by Kristy) of Newtown; Staci Janush and Bridee Rexford of Redding; and John Casey and Tammy Lee Dunn of New Fairfield.

Participants from other surrounding towns include: Marian Coletti of Bethel; Kerri Larkin of Darien, Kristen Huttunen of Waterton, Charlotte Adams (Rustic Charm) and Jeff Greene (Jeff Greene Metal Design) of Woodbury; Danielle & Evan Potter (Potter Rebarn) of Stratford, and Daniela Infield of South Salem, NY.

“To learn more about each participant and their stories, and to view before and after photos, please follow us on Facebook and Instagram“ says Arfine. “The transformations by these talented artisans are absolutely amazing.”

In addition, join us on Saturday, April 24 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm for a DIY Workshop with Kristen Crump, Foxtrot Home, who will demonstrate how to use chalk paint on your next project.

Housatonic Habitat for Humanity focuses on making a meaningful difference in the lives of qualified working families by promoting financial stability and self-sufficiency through ownership of affordable homes. Households often consist of those who have limited assets and who have jobs that also have income caps.
