WCSU professor to present talks on Earth in Crisis on March 28 and April 25

Western Connecticut State University Professor of Biology Dr. Stephen “Mitch” Wagener will present free virtual talks for the public on our changing climate and the impact it has on Earth.

The “Earth in Crisis” talks are courtesy of WCSU’s Department of Biological and Environmental Sciences and the Danbury Library.

Wagener, an ecologist and climate change educator who teaches climate ecology, entomology, and related courses at WCSU, will present talks the last Monday of the month January through April.

Register here or on the Danbury Library website for the Zoom links. The free talks are appropriate for anyone aged 16 or over. The two remaining talks scheduled are:

Stronger Storms and Rising Seas – Monday, March 28, 5:30-6:30 p.m.

Heat is power. Water expands, seas rise, storms get stronger. Flooding coastal areas destroy homes, salinize agricultural land and cause financial hardships for us all.

Climate Hope: How Do We Fix This? – Monday, April 25, 5:30-6:30 p.m.

Escaping old habits and forming new attitudes will allow us to cut our emissions, regenerate the biosphere and create a better world for our grandchildren.
