Cultural Alliance of Western Connecticut partners with Hancock Hall and Connecticut Institute for Communities on art shows

The Cultural Alliance of Western Connecticut and two local organizations are working together to produce summer art exhibits for the community.

On July 7 at 5 p.m., Hancock Hall at 31 Staples St. in Danbury, will host an artist’s reception for Bethel artist Diana Gubbay, whose show is titled “The Energy Within Matter.” The exhibit will delve into the energy within vast spaces, and within all life. The reception is free and open to the public.

“Hancock Hall has been a great supporter of the Cultural Alliance but we haven’t been able to work together on an exhibit since before the pandemic,” said Cultural Alliance executive director Lisa Scails. “Hancock Hall is a family owned business that believes in community and the power of art, and their facility is a perfect place to display and enjoy Diana’s artwork.”

A second exhibit is planned for Aug. 8 at the Connecticut Institute for Communities (CIFC), as part of the ribbon-cutting and celebration of an 8,000-square-foot expansion at CIFC’s 120 Main St. headquarters in Danbury. The Cultural Alliance will soon issue a call to artists for that show.

“CIFC is a new partner for the Cultural Alliance, and we’re both looking forward to showcasing the region’s emerging and under-represented artists with this show,” Scails said. “Coming out of Covid, we are planning to work with even more businesses and artists to promote the culture and talent of Western Connecticut.”
