WCSU announces fall 2023 public music events

Western Connecticut State University’s Department of Music will host a variety of music events open to the public this fall. An Oktoberfest Jazz event, Piano Recital, Opera Scenes, Ensembles, Holiday Pops and performances of all types of music and song are planned. All events will be in the Veronica Hagman Concert Hall within the university’s Visual and Performing Arts Center (VPAC), 43 Lake Ave. Extension in Danbury.

Oktoberfest Jazz on Saturday, Oct. 28, at 3 p.m. Tickets are $7 plus fees online and $10 at the door.

Piano Studio Recital performed by WCSU Piano majors on Sunday, Nov. 5, at 3 p.m. Tickets are $7 plus fees online and $10 at the door.

Opera Scenes performed by the WCSU Opera Ensemble on Saturday, Nov. 11, at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 plus fees online and $15 at the door.

Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band performance on Sunday, Nov. 12, at 3 p.m. Tickets are $7 plus fees online and $10 at the door.

Jazz Combos performed by WCSU’s student jazz combos performing a mix of standards and original compositions and arrangements on Friday, Nov. 17, at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 plus fees online and $15 at the door.

Chamber Singers and University Singers performing on Sunday, Nov. 19, at 3 p.m. Tickets are $7 plus fees online and $10 at the door.

Orchestra and Concert Chorale performance on Saturday, Dec. 2, at 3 p.m. Tickets are $7 plus fees online and $10 at the door.

Percussion Ensemble performance on Sunday, Dec. 3, at 3 p.m. Tickets are $7 plus fees online and $10 at the door.

Holiday Pops, a festive event to get everyone in the holiday spirit featuring performances by the Percussion Ensemble, University Choir, Chamber Ensembles, Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble and more, on Saturday, Dec. 9, and Sunday, Dec. 10, at 3 p.m. Proceeds from the event benefit the Ana Grace Marquez Greene and Dave Smith Scholarships for WCSU music majors. Tickets are $15 plus fees online and $25 at the door.
