In honor of National Library Week April 8-14, the Danbury Library will unveil its newest service on Monday, April 9th for its patrons more than a year after opening its Studio 170 audio recording space. Studio 170 has now expanded to include a video recording area with green screen, lights, microphones, high definition video camera, and an iMac that comes loaded with iMovie, Final Cut Pro X, and Black Magic software. The new studio is generously funded by the Friends of the Danbury Library.
As the Danbury Library continues to support its vision to foster creativity, discovery, and personal growth, this serves as another valuable asset promoting lifelong learning in our city’s diverse community. Use of Studio 170 video production space, like all of our library services, is free to Connecticut library cardholders.
The Studio 170 video recording area will be available for reservation during these times:
Mondays 11:00 am – 6:00 pm
Tuesdays 11:00 am – 6:00 pm
Wednesdays 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm
Thursdays 11:00 am – 6:00 pm
Fridays 11:00 am – 4:00 pm
It is recommended that at least 24 hours’ notice be given for all reservation requests. Danbury Library patrons and Connecticard holders can reserve times by calling, emailing the library, or by filling out the reservation request form online. Processing of reservations is done during normal business hours Monday-Friday. We do not process reservations during Library closings or holidays. All reservations must be approved by either Aurelio Muraca or Amanda Gilbertie. Once the reservation is approved, we will notify the patron and place the reservation on the online recording studio calendar.
To reserve the recording studio, patrons must be at least 17 years old, have an active Connecticut library card in good standing, and have a valid state-issued photo ID. The studio reservation must be in the name of the ID holder and s/he must be present for the duration of the session and is solely responsible for missing or damaged equipment. Any incurred fines will be charged to their account.
The Danbury Library staff cannot provide one-on-one assistance on demand in the recording studio. Some proficiency in using computers, video editing software, and video recording devices is expected to achieve results.
Any questions can be directed to Aurelio Muraca (amuraca@danburylibrary.org) or Amanda Gilbertie (agilbertie@danburylibrary.org).
