Hat City Pictures, LLC's latest short, "Samuel's Got A Sweet Tooth", runs just under five-minutes long, but manages to carry a pretty potent punch; evidence of which can be seen by the response the film has been receiving on the international film festival circuit. The short centers around a young boy named Samuel (played with an almost spooky, ethereal perfection by 7-year-old first time actor, Jack McCubbin), and his covert visits to the kitchen for late-night bowls of ice cream. This being much to the dismay of his strict disciplinarian, inebriate mother (played by versatile actress Bryn Berg, whose performance has been described by audience members as "creepy AF").
In just the first six months of 2018, "Samuel's Got A Sweet Tooth" has already earned an array of accolades and awards, including being selected as a semi-finalist at the Los Angeles Independent Film Festival Awards, and being awarded a Silver Medal at the Spotlight Horror Film Awards in Atlanta, Georgia. "Samuel's Got A Sweet Tooth" has been shown at film festivals across the U.S., as well as festivals overseas. It was selected as an Official Selection of the Berlin Flash Film Festival, where it was screened at the famous Stage Apollo Theater in Stuttgart, Germany. The short was also listed as a "First Selection" of the Moving Pictures Festival in Nieuwmoer, Belgium.
Needless to say, things have been looking pretty sweet for the cast and crew of "Samuel's Got A Sweet Tooth". We look forward to seeing what else the future has in store for this talented group of filmmakers.
