Danbury Centre Strings Participates in 'Orchestras Feeding America' Sunday

Danbury Centre Strings concludes their season this Sunday, April 28th at 3:00 PM at Broadview Middle School

Led by Music Director, Glen Lebetkin, at the Danbury Music Centre, Danbury Centre Strings (DCS) provides a challenging, exciting, educational ensemble experience for string players. Members study standard string repertoire appropriate to their level of playing and develop playing technique, listening skills, orchestral technique, and ensemble experience. Many of the DCS alumni go on to perform in the Danbury Community Orchestra and Danbury Symphony Orchestra.

This Sunday's concert features the group performing music by Tchaikovsky, Borodin, Warlock, and Bernstein among others. The orchestra will also participate in 'Orchestras Feeding America' and is one of only eight in Connecticut that do so. The League of American Orchestras first joined forces with Feeding America, the nation’s largest hunger-relief organization, in 2009. More than 215 orchestras in all 50 states participated in an unprecedented coordinated effort by collecting and donating food to their local food assistance agency or food bank within Feeding America’s network of more than 200 food banks and 60,000 food pantries and meal programs. Since then, over 370 orchestras have participated in the annual effort.
