Danbury Mayor Mark Recognizes Alzheimer's Awareness in City of Danbury

MAYOR BOUGHTON RECOGNIZES ALZHEIMER’S AWARENESS IN THE CITY OF DANBURY

Danbury goes Purple for the month of June in honor of Alzheimer’s Awareness

June is Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month and the City of Danbury is working with the Alzheimer’s Association to paint the town purple.

So far Danbury City Hall, Danbury Senior Center, Elmwood Park, the Greater Danbury Chamber of Commerce, Hancock Hall & Main Street have gone purple. You can also find our firefighters in purple tee shirts on Fridays for the month of June.

Right now, there are 78 thousand people living with Alzheimer’s in Connecticut and 178 thousand caregivers. Money raised for the Alzheimer’s Association goes to continued care and support and to advance research efforts for those with the disease, their caregivers and people concerned about Alzheimer’s.

We are proud to support the Alzheimer’s Association each year in the City of Danbury. I have a family connection to this disease and I am proud to work with an organization who not only has provided care and support, but who is also committed to finding a cure.

- Mayor Mark Boughton

The City of Danbury is also looking forward to supporting the Walk to End Alzheimer’s at WCSU on September 22nd.
