Celebrate the birth of Danbury's own Charles Ives on Sunday!

Charles Ives Day 145th Birthday Celebration on Sunday, October 20

The Danbury Music Centre and the Danbury Museum & Historical Society celebrate the 145th anniversary of the birth of Danbury’s own, maverick composer, Charles Ives on Sunday, October 20th. 

Museum Executive Director and Danbury City Historian, Brigid Guertin and musician and composer, Larry Deming and will be your hosts for events that will occur at various locations in the city. All events are FREE and open to the public. 

The events include:

• 9:30 am: Hike up Pine Mountain

 Enjoy the fall foliage and visit the site of Ives retreat

Meet at Ives Court (off Pine Mountain Rd., Ridgefield).  Try the “new” trail for more of a moderate climb (weather permitting). RSVP to dmc@danburymusiccentre.org

• 12:00 pm: Meet at Charles Ives’ birth home

 7 Mountainville Ave. Danbury for a tour around the outside of the home (weather permitting).

• 12:30 pm: Ives Film Experience

Danbury Museum & Historical Society, 43 Main Street, Danbury , Huntington Hall      

• 3:00 pm:  Danbury Music Centre Concert  “Barn Dances, Fiddle Tunes and Charles Ives” 

Featuring Local musicians led by Larry Deming
