Preparations are underway for the Danbury Flyers Spring 2018 Track and Field Season! In addition to our main program which has been designed for boys and girls from 3rd through 8th grades, we are proud to offer our unique “First Flight” program, specifically designed for those boys and girls ages 5-8 who would like to be introduced to running and track and field for the first time!
Both programs offered by the Danbury Flyers are open to boys and girls from Danbury and all surrounding towns. The Flyers are proud members of the WCC Middle School Conference, as well as the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) and USA Track and Field (USATF) national organizations.
The Danbury Flyers Spring season programs are also designed to provide an opportunity for the youth of our community to develop an interest and passion for running for fitness as well as for competition. The program can benefit beginners as well as advanced runners, and is a great way for multi-sport athletes to keep in shape either during their off-season or as supplemental in-season training. Best of all, the Flyers have no bench and everyone can actively participate!
The Flyers’ coaching and administrative staff, 100% of which are background-checked USATF members, work together with the Danbury High School Track and Field programs to ensure athletes are trained in a consistent fashion. In fact, last year, DHS athletes joined the Flyers at the conclusion of their season for competition in the USATF Junior Olympics. The Flyers have qualified scores of athletes for 5 years at all age levels for the USATF and AAU Junior Olympics National Competitions. Many of those athletes initially joined the Flyers with little or no previous experience!
