Jarboe, Roessler of Danbury Sign to Play Soccer in College

Three stars of the Immaculate High School girls soccer team signed to play college soccer at a special ceremony held by the school.

Makinsey Jarboe and Kristin Roessler, both of Danbury, and Nicollette Stocks of Bethel will take their cleats and soccer skills to Catholic University, Central Connecticut State University and Western Connecticut State University respectively.

Makinsey Jarboe, who excelled in soccer and basketball all four years at Immaculate, will play defensive center, midfield for the girls soccer team at Catholic University in Washington, DC while majoring in biology with a pre-med track. While at Immaculate High School, Makinsey’s soccer career included serving as a team captain and receiving All SWC and All State honors for soccer for her senior and juniors years. She also received SWC Honorable Mention twice as well as being named to the All Patriot Division. A high-honors student, Makinsey is also Vice President of the IHS National Honor Society and a member of its Student Council.

Kristen Roessler, All American soccer player, will play goalie for Central Connecticut State University just like she did at Immaculate High School. At CCSU she will study finance.  During her years playing soccer at IHS, she received All SWC and All State status her sophomore, junior and senior years, as well as All-New England honors her junior and senior years. Kristen also received an Official Citation of Congratulations from the CT General Assembly for being selected to the prestigious 2017 Fall High School Girls All-America Team by United Soccer Coaches, presented by Connecticut State Senator Michael McLachlan (24th District). She was one of only 60 girls in the country to receive this honor.

Nicolette Stocks will play defense for the Western Connecticut State University’s girls soccer team as she did at Immaculate. She will study Allied Science at WCSU. Nicolette was named to the All-Patriot Division for soccer while playing the sport for Immaculate. She also played basketball and golf at IHS, and was on the honor roll. Nicolette, Kristen and Makinsey were all driving forces towards the IHS girls soccer team being named Patriot Division champs and winners of the SWC Championship Tournament in the Fall of 2017. This is the fifth time the lady Mustangs have won the SWC title. They ended their past season 19-1.

“I have had the pleasure of coaching these three young ladies for the past four years in soccer, and as a mentor and coach it is always rewarding to watch young athletes flourish on the field and beyond,” said Nelson Mingachos, IHS girls soccer coach and SWC Coach of the Year. “They have grown and developed into strong leaders in both athletics, in the classroom and in the service hours they have completed. I am looking forward to watching them succeed in the next chapter of their lives,” he added.
