Important Message about FEMA for Danbury Residents

Please provide an estimate of the damage caused by the May 15th storms to your home and/or business. This process needs to be followed in order to request a Preliminary Damage Assessment from FEMA. The Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection, Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security (DESPP/DEMHS) is undertaking this pre-assessment survey in the most impacted counties:  New Haven, Litchfield and Fairfield. An assessment of Residential and Business damages are included in the surveys below. Please be advised that there is no guarantee for Federal Funding at this time.  This is a step the City of Danbury must take to apply for federal funding.

Frequently Asked Questions

I have storm damage, what should I do?

The first thing you should do is contact your insurance company. We encourage you to also fill out the assessment form, so that we can assess the damage to the city.

Why do I need to fill out the Residential Individual Assistance Assessment Form or the Business Survey?

This is the first step for the State to apply for Federal Assistance from FEMA for the May 15th Storms. Cities are collecting estimates of storm damage to submit to the State of Connecticut. The State then submits the information to the Federal government, who then determines if our region is eligible for FEMA funds.

How soon do I need to complete these forms?

Please complete and submit the Residential Individual Assistance form by May 29th, 2018 to the City of Danbury through our website at www.danbury-ct.gov/storm.

When will I know if FEMA Funds will be available?

After the State of Connecticut submits the information from the impacted municipalities to FEMA then a decision will be made.  This process could take several weeks.
