Danbury resident, Donald J. Murray, Sr., 86, has died

Donald J. Murray, Sr.

Donald J. Murray, Sr., 86, of Danbury, formerly of Heritage Village Southbury husband of Dorothy Fairchild Murray, died on Friday, July 6, 2018.
 
Mr. Murray was born in Danbury, September 14, 1931, a son of James Murray Sr. and (Lillian Burke) Murray.
 
He attended Danbury Schools and served with the United States Army from 1950-1952. He married Judith Walker on August 12, 1950, and they raised their four children together, She passed away on March 29, 1990. He then Married Dorothy in November 1991, they enjoyed 27 wonderful years together. Mr. Murray was a retired robotics engineer having been employed with Unimation Corp. of Danbury. He was also a lifelong area resident.
 
He truly enjoyed his family and making friends. He was independent, kind, colorful, and a perfect role model. 
 
In addition to his wife Dorothy, Mr. Murray is survived by two sons, Donald Murray Jr. (Alexa) of Ashboro, North Carolina and Wayne Murray (Laura) of Williamsport, Pennsylvania and two daughters, Maureen Murray of Danbury and Heather Osborn (Larry) of Star Idaho, a brother, Robert Murray (Carol) of Brookfield, Connecticut; eleven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Murray was predeceased by a brother James Murray.
 
Graveside funeral services and burial will take place on Thursday, July 12th at 11:30 a.m. in Newtown Village Cemetery, Newtown, CT.
There will be no calling hours.
 
Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Ave., Danbury is in charge of arrangements.
