Services planned for Danbury resident Ellen R. Farrar Levy, 76

Ellen R. Farrar Levy, age 76, of Danbury, wife of Warren M. Levy, passed peacefully, August 10, 2018, in Danbury, CT, surrounded by her husband and friends.

Ellen was born July 5, 1942, daughter of George and Estelle Lipton in Yonkers, NY. She was a graduate of A.B. Davis High School and Cornell University. She worked passionately for 47 years for the Westchester Community Opportunity Program, as the Head Start Director. She supported numerous animal rescue groups over many decades. 

Ellen was a friend to everyone she met, always helping those in need. Everywhere she went she ran into people she knew. She loved children, animals, shopping, her home, gardens, her dear husband, countless friends, and family. She lived her life to the fullest and touched so many lives in her career and personal life. She was an inspiration to all who knew her. 

She is survived by her husband, Warren, brothers Barry and Dan, several nieces and nephews, their spouses and children. She was predeceased by her sister Donna, and a niece and 2 nephews. 

The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 12th, from 3-6 pm at Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9 Granville Ave., Danbury, CT, 06810
