Singers invited to join the Danbury Concert Chorus

It's time to raise your voice and sing with the Danbury Concert Chorus!

Are you looking for a chance to meet new people, challenge yourself, create beautiful music, and bring lots of joy to your family, friends, and community? If so, then you’re invited to sing with the Danbury Concert Chorus (DCC), one of the non-auditioned ensembles of the Danbury Music Centre. All are welcome, from the novice to the experienced singer, ages high school and up.

Rehearsals (beginning September 11) take place Tuesday evenings (7:30 - 9:30 pm) at the Danbury Music Centre’s Marian Anderson Recital Hall, 256 Main Street, Danbury. Please come at 7:00 on the first rehearsal to allow time for registration.

Dr. Jason Thoms, DCC’s newly-appointed Music Director and Conductor, is also the Director of Choral Activities, Music Area Director, and Dean of Arts and Sciences at Concordia College-New York, where he directs four ensembles which have toured both nationally and internationally. He is a published composer and arranger of vocal and instrumental music and a professional bass-baritone chorister and soloist.

The first concert, entitled Hearts, Hands, and Voices: Music of Love, takes place on November 3rd. The program includes Karitas Habundat in Omnia (Hildegard) Come Again! Sweet Love (Dowland), Fine Knacks for Ladies (Dowland), Weep O Mine Eyes (Bennet), selections from Liebeslieder Waltzes (Brahms), Liebslieder Polkas (PDQ Bach) , and Three Scottish Songs (Wilberg).

On December 15th, the Danbury Concert Chorus will continue the tradition of singing Handel’s Messiah, a much-loved masterwork, to usher in the holiday season. The concert season concludes on April 13th, with Passover, Passion, and Pascha – Music of Faith.

Come join an amazing group of people who love music as much as you do. Challenge yourself to grow in your music skills and in your appreciation for excellent choral music.
