Isabelle Benicewicz, 92, of Danbury has died

Isabelle “Ibby” Benicewicz, 92, of Danbury, passed away on Sunday, September 16, 2018 at her home following a brief illness. She passed peacefully, surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Benicewicz was born on August 6, 1926 in Danbury; the youngest child of the late David and Bernice (Swentzel) Patton. She was a life long Danbury resident and resided in the King Street area most of her life. She attended Danbury Schools and worked for the Otto Company of Danbury, for many years until her retirement. She was married in 1949 to the love of her life, the late Edward Benicewicz.

Ibby was a woman of boundless energy and she was blessed with a positive attitude, good health and a wonderful sense of humor. Her favorite times were those spent with family members sharing laughs, conversation and a cup of tea.
 
Mrs. Benicewicz was a member of the King Street United Church of Christ. A woman of strong Christian faith she began each day by reading her Bible. Over the years, she enjoyed being involved in many church activities including Sunday school, church fairs and fundraisers as well as being the church Treasurer for many years.  Until her death, she was the longest active member of her church.  Ibby was also involved with the Danbury Baptist Church Cemetery Association.
 
She is survived by her three children: Ruth Radachowsky and her husband, Richard, Joan Bakonyi and her husband, Frank and Edward “Rob” Benicewicz. Mrs. Benicewicz is also survived by 7 grandchildren: Melissa, Alanna, Brett, Johanna, Stephen, Lindsay and Ashley and 5 great grandchildren: Jace, Owen, Manny,Willow and Lyla. In addition, Mrs. Benicewicz is survived by a sister, Ralphine McGran. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her 6 siblings James and John Patton, Blanche Masi, Margaret Miller, Ila Aloia, and Marie Benicewicz.
 
Funeral Services will take place on Thursday, September 20, 2018 at 11:00 AM at King Street U.C.C.; 201 South King Street, Danbury. Interment will follow in the Danbury Baptist Church Cemetery; Clapboard Ridge Road. There will be no calling hours.
