Longtime Danbury Resident, Caroline Wood has Died

Caroline “Carol” “Mema” (Bailey) Wood, passed away peacefully on the morning of October 31st, 2018 at the age of 94.

She was the wife of the late Donald A. Wood Sr.

Mrs. Wood was born in Danbury, January 28, 1924, to Ralph and Anna Bailey.  She attended Danbury schools.

A dedicated member of the Baptist Church of Danbury, Mrs. Wood taught both Sunday School and Vacation Bible School.

Everyone who crossed her path was touched by her generous spirit and thoughtfulness.

Mrs. Wood is survived two daughters, Jean Bonsignore and her husband Fred, Lynn Newton and her husband Richard and a son, Donald A. Wood Jr. and his wife Kaye and son in law Steven Braun.  She will be greatly missed by her nine grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Wood was also predeceased by a daughter, Kaye Braun.

The family would like to thank her companions and caregivers at Hancock Hall for the many years of love, caring and friendship given to Carol and her family.

Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at 2 p.m. in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9 Granville Ave., Danbury with Pastor Bob Payne of the Baptist Church of Danbury officiating.

Burial will follow in Wooster Cemetery, Danbury.

The family will receive friends in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home on Wednesday from 12 noon to 1:30 p.m.
