Lifelong Danbury Resident Sandra M. Palanzo, 71, has Died

Sandra M. Palanzo, 71, of Danbury, died on Thursday, November 15, 2018 at her home.

Sandra was born in Danbury, April 28, 1947, daughter of Michael A. and Edith R. (Clerici) Palanzo.

She attended St. Peter School and graduated from Danbury High School with the Class of 1964.

A former secretary at Broadview Middle School and a Radiological Transcriptionist at Danbury Hospital, Sandra pursued a career and enrolled in the Nursing program at Henry Abbott Technical School of Danbury and became an LPN. For the past thirty years, she was an LPN first at Danbury Hospital, the former Heritage Heights and St. John Paul II Center for Health Care.

A lifelong Danbury resident, she was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church.

Sandra is survived by a daughter, Jaime Kovacs of Brookfield; a brother, Richard M. “Rick” Palanzo and his wife Karyn of Danbury; her significant other Raymond Flowers of Danbury and numerous cousins.

She was predeceased by her parents, Michael A. and Edith R. (Clerici) Palanzo.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at 9:30 a.m. in St. Peter Church, 121 Main St., Danbury with Rev. Gregg D. Mecca, Pastor officiating.

Burial will be in the family plot at St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury.

The family will receive relatives and friends in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9 Granville Ave., Danbury on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Sandra’s memory may be made to St. Joseph’s Indian School, P.O. Box 300, Chamberlain, SD 57325-9919, Kids Wish Network, P.O. Box 2013, Milford, NH 03055-2013 or to Susan B. Komen Breast Cancer Fund, P.O. Box 98060, Washington, DC 20090-8060.
