The Gallery at Danbury City Hall shows Kurt Wandelmaier

“The Gallery” at City Hall shows Kurt Wandelmaier

Closing Reception Thursday, November 29th 5:30-6:30pm

Hanging on the walls of “The Gallery” at City Hall is a series called “Liminal Beings” from local illustrator and fine artist Kurt Wandelmaier. Wandelmaier’s work came to us from the Cultural Alliance of Western CT’s Accessible Art Program.

“Liminal Beings” presents a series of images that bridge the gap between traditional fantasy archetypes and fine art. The titular beings dwell in realms that exist in the subconscious of the artist, and represent a certain illumination of lost knowledge and ancient ways. The series of images is meant to be a deconstruction on mythic image making tropes with a modern perspective, and a celebration of fantastical creatures and people.

The show began on September 24th and will run until the closing reception on November 29th.

In the “Liminal Beings” series, all works of art were created as graphite drawings on Bristol paper, colored in Adobe Photoshop, and then printed on high quality Moab Lasal photo matte paper.
