Juergen Bollmann, 75, of Danbury has died

Juergen Bollmann

Juergen Bollmann, 75, of Danbury, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 3, 2018.

Juergen is survived by his wife of 52 years, Baerbel (née Volkmer), his children, Cliff and Tanya (Johnson), his three grandchildren, Lola, Christian and Ayana and his brother Horst.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Wilhelm and Hildegard (née Boettger) Bollmann.

Born in Hamburg, Germany on January 2, 1943, Juergen married the love of his life in 1966 and immigrated to the United States in 1968.  Together they landed in sunny southern California before making homes in Abilene, Kansas and Syracuse, New York.  The Bollmann family finally settled in Pleasantville, New York and it is there they called home for more than 30 years.   As empty nesters, Juergen and Baerbel split their time between homes in La Jolla, California and Danbury, Connecticut.

Juergen was a retired Executive Vice President for Rheem Manufacturing where he worked for nearly 30  years.  Juergen had a deep passion for spy novels, history books and any and all kinds of fishing – arctic lake, deep sea, fly or river.   He was a world traveler who visited all seven continents and more than 70 countries.  His family, friends and colleagues will remember him as a man who struck a hard bargain, but would always give the shirt off his back to a person in need.

A Memorial Gathering will take place on Sunday, November 11, 2018 from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at Kane Funeral Home located at 25 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield, Connecticut.   All are welcome to attend and celebrate Juergen’s life.
