Mary Debbas El-Masry

Mary Debbas El-Masry, 79, of Danbury, wife of the late Dr. Ibrahim El-Masry died surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, December 9, 2018, at her home. 

Mrs. El-Masry was born in Amman, Jordan, September 14, 1939, a daughter of the late Henry and Victoria Debbas.
 
She attended schools in Jordan and was a retired educator serving in the Cairo, Egypt private school system.
 
She immigrated to the United States in 1965, first settling in Brooklyn, NY.  A resident of Danbury since 1972, Mary was a member of St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church of Danbury and of its Ladies Society.
 
Mrs. El-Masry is survived by a son, Dr. Sherif S. El-Masry and his wife Sandra of Bronxville, NY and three daughters, Doris S. El-Masry of Forest Hills, NY, Monique T. El-Masry  and Angela C. El-Masry both of New York, NY; a brother, Elias Debbas and his wife Florine of Long Island, NY; two sisters, Eileen Solimon of Hicksville, L.I., NY and Vivian Salama of Melbourne, Australia; two granddaughters, Claudia and Gabriella El-Masry and several nieces and nephews.
 
The Rite of Burial will take place on Thursday, December, 13, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. in St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church, 125 Kohanza St., Danbury.
 
Interment will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury.
 
Relatives and friends will be received at St. George Church on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 from 4PM to 7 PM with the Trisagion prayer service at the conclusion of calling hours.
 
Contributions in Mrs. El-Masry’s memory may be made to St. George Church, 125 Kohanza St., Danbury, CT  06811.
