CityCenter Danbury’s Architectural Advisory Committee Seeks Members

The Architectural Advisory Committee for CityCenter Danbury has two open positions for people who will help beautify Main Street and surrounding areas.

Committee members review signage and architectural design of all buildings and facades and other structures to ensure that they fit harmoniously within the downtown.

Leigh Overland, an architect with offices on Main Street, is the chair of the committee. He said members “make a difference” to the community.

“The committee makes recommendations based on an architectural theme, community compatibility, aesthetics and exterior materials,” Overland said. “We work with business owners to help them attract as many customers as possible. We have assisted many entrepreneurs with critiques that they were able to incorporate into their designs.”

The appointment is for a one-year term. The committee officially meets twice a month at CityCenter offices, as long as there are applications to discuss.

The CityCenter Danbury Board of Directors appoints members of the Architectural Advisory Committee, which the city approved in 1995. The committee makes recommendations to the Danbury Director of Planning, who has final approval.

Committee members are engineers, designers, architects and professionals with similar backgrounds.

People who would like to join the committee should send a letter of interest and resume to CityCenter, 268 Main St., or email the materials to assistant@citycenterdanbury.com with “AAC Volunteer Opportunity” in the subject line.
