Services Planned for Danbury Resident Hailey Rae Nailor, age 16

Hailey Rae Nailor, age 16, became an angel on Saturday, February 9, 2019 after taking her own life. She was a loving, creative, athletic, playful, funny and strong-willed girl. Born March 22, 2002 to Kevin and Erin Nailor, she was a big sister to Jack and a good friend to many. Hailey is described as brave, bold and courageous. Despite these attributes, Hailey’s strong spirit struggled to find peace.

Hailey attended school through the Danbury public school system. She played basketball for the police athletic league and practiced karate. She possessed creative talents including lyrical writing and had a keen eye for photography. She loved animals, especially her beloved dog Lola. Known for her genuine personality, she had the courage to be herself despite social norms. Instead of dressing as a typical princess or cheerleader she boldly challenged the norm in werewolf or bloody zombie costumes. Hailey marched to the beat of her own drum and she wasn’t afraid to show it.

Hailey had special relationships with her family. With Nana Barbara she would take car rides with no planned destination and play games like “dog patrol”. With “Pop Pop Jim” she followed traditions like lunch at their favorite pizzeria. She looked forward to spending time with her Nana “Cadu” and “Pop Pop Bob” at their 5 star accommodation home filled with all amenities! Hailey adored her father and expressed a desire to follow in his footsteps to tend bar when she was older. With Jack her brother she shared time following WWE, watching movies, playing video games, practicing karate and enjoying their favorite buffalo wings. Her mother was a role model and friend to Hailey. Their honest and close relationship allowed an understanding of Hailey’s struggles. Like her mother, Hailey’s playfulness and wonderful sense of humor facilitated working through some tough emotional times.

Hailey’s young soul will no longer suffer. Those who loved her will now carry her pain and slowly learn how to go on without her.

She is survived by her loving parents Kevin and Erin, her brother Jack (13), her grandparents Jim and Barbara Duff, and Carol and Robert Tamburo.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 17th at Green Funeral Home 57 Main Street, Danbury from 2pm to 6pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, February 18th at Saint Joseph Church in Danbury at 10:30am.
