Services planned for Danbury resident Ella Louise Charles

Ella Louise Charles

Ella Louise (Harrison) Charles (aka Mrs. Weak and Spring Chicken), of Danbury Connecticut, entered into eternal life peacefully surrounded by her loving family at home on September 06, 2019.

She was born in Robersonville, North Carolina, June 15, 1929; and was the youngest of 9 siblings of the late Alonzo and Sylvania (Slade) Harrison. She was educated in the North Carolina schools.

After moving from North Carolina to Danbury CT, 1961 Ella remained a resident of Danbury; she was employed at Risdon, Amphenol and Medallic Art.

She enjoyed cooking; watching the cooking programs and baseball, her favorite team was the Dodgers. Ella was a long time member of the New Hope Baptist Church of Danbury; where she served on the Usher Board and the Pastor’s Aid Ministry.

She is survived by three daughters Judy (Dermot) Randall of Waterbury CT; Patricia Slade and Sheila Shaw both of New Milford CT; three sons, Benjamin (Carolyn) Charles of Burlington NC; Ronnie Charles and Kemy (Lori) Charles both of Danbury CT, fourteen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Special friends: Meriam Trainor, Velmar Lamar, Hilda Martin and Walker Coles and many more…

She is predeceased by her daughter Geraldine Redmond; five brothers: Wilie, Elmer, Okay, John and Alonza Harrison Jr. Three sisters Selma, Lucy and Rose Harrison.

Homegoing services will take place on Saturday, September 14 at 12 noon in the New Hope Baptist Church, 12 Dr. Aaron Samuels Blvd., Danbury CT with the Rev. Leroy G. Parker officiating.

Burial will follow in Wooster Cemetery, Danbury.

The family will receive friends at the New Hope Baptist Church, Danbury on Saturday, September 14 from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm
Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Ave., Danbury has been entrusted to the funeral arrangements.
